Creating Your Website’s Elevator Pitch?

Quick, in 30 seconds or less, tell me what your business is all about.Website Elevator Pitch

Did you stammer or did it roll right off the tip of your tongue?

My experience is most business owners do a really poor job of communicating information about themselves and their business in an effective way.

The way you communicate this information to others is called an elevator pitch.

An elevator pitch got it’s name because it’s a way you could explain your business to a stranger in the time span of an elevator ride.

Your elevator pitch should be a 30 second commercial for your business.  In other words, if a complete stranger walks up to you on the street and asked about your business, you should be able to communicate your message in  a concise manner in 30 seconds or less.

A good elevator pitch should include who you are, what you have to offer and how to get it.  For example:

“Hi, my name is Bill Parlaman and I’m the owner of RadicalMarketingSolutions.com.  I help business owners get their website on the first page of Google, attract more buyers and eliminate their online competition forever.  Is this something you’re interested in?”

You should be able to communicate your message without bumbling your way through it. Your goal here is to entice the person hearing your message to want to know more about your business.

Make sense?

The same holds true when it comes to your website. If you’re not IMMEDIATELY communicating your elevator pitch when your buyers land on your website, you’re losing prospects and leaving money on the table.

You have about 7 seconds to grab your readers attention. If your buyes have to figure out what your website or blog is all about, they’ll leave your website.

Oh and by the way…

Welcome to my website is NOT an elevator pitch.

In fact, the first question you MUST ask yourself  before building or redesigning your website is, ” What is the purpose of my website?

After all, if you haven’t a clue what your website is all about, what makes you think your buyers will?

Having a clear and concise elevator pitch helps your website in the following ways:

  • Content creation
  • Website Promotion and Finding your target marketing online.
  • SEO
  • Networking
  • Branding
  • And much much more

The fact is, any website promotion you do from this point on should flow from your website’s elevator pitch.

In my next post I will share with you some different ways you can leverage your elevator pitch both online and offline.

Now go dominate Google, Bill Parlaman
