This Week In Internet Marketing- Week Ending 1/6/2012

Happy New Year!Internet Marketing News

I hope your New Year is off to a roaring start.

As you learned last week, we are rolling out a new feature here at Radical Marketing Solutions called…

This Week In Internet Marketing

This is how it works:

Throughout the week we’ll keep tabs on the most important and interesting stories happening in the world of marketing and internet marketing.

Then, we’ll summarize them and post a link to the original story so you can choose to read the original article if you wish.

So, if your New Year’s resolution this year is to stay informed about the world of marketing and internet marketing you’re in luck!

So without any further ado, here are this week’s top 3 stories according to us here at Radical Marketing Solutions.

1. Google Gets Caught Buying Links For Higher Rankings: This story was originally scooped by Aaron Wall over at SEO Book and nicely summarized by Search Engine Land.

Here’s the problem. It’s against Google’s terms of service to buy links for the sole purpose of higher rankings. This time Google got caught violating their own rules. It’s another case of, do as I say and not as I do.

2. Google puts themselves in the corner for buying links: After Google was “outed” for using paid links to dominate the organic search results for the term “browser”, Google punishes themselves by lowering their page rank for 60 days.

As Of January 3, 2012, Google Chrome fell from the number one spot on Google for the term “browser” to #73.

3. Marketing Predictions For 2012: It wouldn’t seem right if we did not include a list of the top marketing predictions for 2012. As you might imagine there are a ton of predictions.

Luckily the folks over at Ravens Tools  listed over 300 marketing, SEO and social media predictions for 2012.

Enjoy your weekend and I’ll talk to you soon.

Now go dominate Google, Bill Parlaman
