Social Search Optimization-3 Reasons Social Search Is Hot!

Social SearchAs you discovered in my last post , social search optimization is quickly taking it’s place alongside SEO as a power small business Internet marketing strategy.

When social media first took the Internet marketing world by storm,  many business owners felt it was a waste of time ( Including me).

However, now the search engines ( Google, Yahoo and Bing) are displaying ” socially fed” content in the search engines.

What this means is you’ll see “Facebook feeds” and “tweets” among other social media fed content in the search results.

So today, I’d like to share with you 3 little known reasons why you MUST consider social media and social search when marketing your business online.

1) Social Search is more personalized than search engine results. Rather than utilizing the search engines, your buyers are searching for information within their online social networks.  The Internet is evolving into a series of “social feeds” where your buyers are following what their friends (and friends of friends) are doing and recommending.  In fact, Google and Bing are displaying socially fed content from Facebook and Twitter in their search engine results and algorithms.

2) What you say about yourself is a statement, what other say about you is a fact. With the sheer number of offers and messages bombarding your buyers on a daily basis, social media allows them to turn to their friends and contacts for buying decisions.  Since social networks have become familiar tools with your buyers, they are turning to their most trusted sources to sift through all the marketing noise.  Like testimonials used to do in the “good ole’ days of marketing“, social media gives your buyers a way of finding TRUSTED brands and companies to do business with.

3) Sharing buyers experiences is super easy.  When you think about it, social networks were created to build relationships online much in the same way you do offline.  Tools like twitter and Facebook made this very easy for you to do. Now it’s easier than ever to connect those networks with your business online.  Leveraging tools like Facebook Connect and Sign-in with Twitter, your buyers are able to easily connect to your business and share their experiences with their social networks.

Start thinking about how your business can benefit from socially referred and social driven traffic. And this does not only apply online, it can also be very powerful offline as well.

When you think about it, this is pretty powerful stuff.
