Anchor Text: What You Must Know About Anchor Text Linking

Keeping in tune with the basics of “on-page” SEO I’d like to cover anchor text linking with you today.
Remember, “on-page” SEO are the factors you can see on your web page and “off-page” SEO factors are the ones you can’t see on your site like incoming one way back-links.
Now in the next few lessons I’ll go over off-page SEO factors and linking with you but first it’s important for you to understand anchor text linking.
Anchor text is basically the “click-able” part of the the link from one web page to another.
For example, I’ve included 3 different anchor text links below:
Notice how the text is highlighted in blue and if you click a you’ll be taken to another web page on my site.
You’ll also want to take note that the linked words are “keywords” I want my pages to rank for rather than something like “click here.”
You see this is very important because search engines use anchor text links to help them understand what the web page receiving the link is all about.
So in other words, when Google visits this post and follows the three links to their respective pages, Google will expect those pages to be about lead generation, SEO consulting and business blogging. In essence the anchor text link helps to determine the relevance of the page.
Now I have my links set out individually but in most cases you’ll want to link your keyword within a sentence where you’re using your keyword, make sense?
For Example:
Radical Marketing Solutions is a Philadelphia online marketing company who specializes in SEO, Lead Generation and SEO Website Design.
Got it? Good!
So the next time you’re linking from an article, a blog or a press release-make sure to use keyword rich anchor text links as staple in your SEO strategy.
