In your last lesson you discovered the three steps to getting your SEO strategies to add up in Google’s eyes.
Today you’ll discover how these strategies work together so your website gets to the top of Google and stays there.
First, understand Google’s job is to determine the meaning of the words on your web-pages.
Google does this by matching the words on your web-pages with the anchor text links between your pages.
When Google hits a link on your site and follows it, you’ll want to make sure the words in your anchor text show up on connecting page. These words should appear in your title tag, page title and body copy.
It’s the agreement between the link text and the words on your web-pages that help Google determine what your web-pages are all about.
So what about links from websites outside of your website? Well this is Google’s way of keeping people ( business owners and webmasters) from manipulating their rankings. Google uses external links as a way of confirming the meaning of your web-page. This is why it’s so important to have external links coming into your your web-pages that use the proper anchor text.
It will be very difficult for a web-page to rank high in the search engines if you do not have enough external links using the proper anchor text.
It’s Google’s way of providing checks and balances to its ranking formula.
This system comes together when the “on page SEO factors” match your internal link text. The external links coming into your website then confirm the “truth” about your web-page.
Once you see SEO through Google’s eyes you’ll be rewarded with higher rankings and a bigger bank account.
