Business Blogging : How To Create Your Business Blog On It’s Own Domain
So the last time you and I spoke we discussed the different ways to integrate business blogs as a customized marketing solutions for your business.
Today I want to get a little more specific as to how you can accomplish this by digging a little deeper into each example I gave you, OK?
So, the first way you can integrate a business blog into your existing marketing plan is to create your blog as an entirely separate site on it’s own domain.
For example, if you already have a business website at www.mybusinesswebsite.com you can add a entirely new domain name at www.newdomain.com and this would be your business blog, got it?
So why would you want to set up your business blog in this manner? Good question…
What this allows you to do is give your blog a totally different look from your current website if that’s something you interested in.
You can also easily match your existing graphics and artwork to make your new business blog match your static html website if you choose to.
One of the benefits of setting up your business blog this way is if you find a business blog doesn’t work for you ( I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t, but I’m just playing devils advocate here so work with me will ya? ) you could simply cut the blog from your marketing plan.
However, simply having a traditional 5 page static website that “dies on the vine” is not your best choice if you are looking to make money or collect leads from your website.
Look, you need to treat your website as a marketing tool. The Internet is huge and filled with tons of websites. You need a way to get found and stand out from everyone else. A business blog allows you to do this.
By publishing fresh new content on a consistent basis you will quickly become the recognized expert in your industry or niche.
By having your business blog as an entirely separate site on it’s own domain will allow you to publish content which in turn will help your blog get found and then you can direct your prospects to your “money site” from there.
Really what you are doing here is giving your old school traditional website an additional way to be found while building some back links to your site as well.
However, one of the disadvantages is you business blog is not necessarily connected to your main site so there could be sort of a disconnect between the two websites. This could confuse some of your customers but you’ll just need to do a good job of linking back to your html website and making it clear the two are connected.
Make sense? Good!
So next time I’ll discuss the pro’s and con’s of creating your business blog as a subdomain or subdirectroy of yoru existing website.
